Attachment and relationships
Attachment isn't a personality type. It's a set of learned expectations about what happens when you need someone — and it can change.
You might recognize
Some of this may sound familiar
- Closeness makes you anxious; distance makes you numb.
- You over-give, then quietly resent it.
- You know your patterns by name and repeat them anyway.
- You keep choosing people who confirm what you already fear.
In the work
What we actually do
The relationship in the room matters
Attachment repair is relational by definition. What happens between us — including ruptures and repairs — becomes usable material. I'll say what I notice, directly and warmly, rather than staying blank.
Needs get practiced, not just discussed
We slow down the moment a need arises and stay with it long enough for your body to learn something new: that wanting doesn't have to cost you the connection.
Self-worth stops being an argument
You can't reason your way into believing you matter. We work experientially so that a different felt sense has a chance to take hold.
“If you've ever felt like you understand your issues but can't seem to change them, that difference matters.”

FAQ
Questions people ask
Do you see couples?
This is individual therapy. Relationship patterns are central to the work, and we do that work with you rather than with both partners in the room.
Can attachment patterns actually change?
Attachment patterns are learned in relationship and can shift in relationship. Progress is usually gradual and uneven, and no outcome is guaranteed.
What if I'm the anxious one and my partner is avoidant?
That pairing is common and painful. We focus on your side of it — what happens in your body when you reach and don't get a response, and what becomes possible when that moment isn't an emergency.
Is this therapy or coaching?
This is licensed psychotherapy, available to people located in New York State. Coaching is a separate, non-clinical offering described on its own page.
