Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and low mood are usually the surface reading. We work with what they're organized around.

You might recognize

Some of this may sound familiar

  • You function well and feel awful, and nobody would guess.
  • Rest makes you anxious; achievement doesn't make you feel better.
  • The inner critic is fluent, fast and cruel.
  • You've tried the tools and know them all by heart.

In the work

What we actually do

Symptoms as signals

We treat anxiety and flatness as intelligent responses to something, then find out what. That usually changes more than symptom management alone.

The critic gets a hearing

Trained in IFS, I help you meet the critical part rather than fight it. Parts that feel heard tend to relax.

Regulation you can actually use

Not breathing exercises handed over as homework — practices found in session, in your body, that hold up in your real week.

“You've done the therapy and understand your patterns… but feel like you're right back where you started after a breakup or other traumatic event.”

FAQ

Questions people ask

Do you prescribe medication?

No. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, not a prescriber. If medication is worth considering, I can talk it through with you and you'd consult a medical provider.

Is this CBT?

No. I'm trained in somatic, experiential, psychodynamic, IFS, Inner Relationship Focusing and mindfulness-based approaches. If purely cognitive work is what you want, I'm probably not the right fit.

What if my anxiety is really about trauma?

It frequently is. Trauma and attachment work is the center of this practice, and we let the work follow what's actually driving things.

How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?

Start with a free consultation. It's a conversation, not a commitment, and part of my job is to say so if someone else would serve you better.

Start with a free consultation

A short conversation to see whether we would be a good fit for working together. Weekly therapy takes place via telehealth. I am licensed in New York and can only offer psychotherapy services to people who reside in New York State.
