New York State
Therapy in Queens
Some weeks it's the wired kind — jaw set, sleep thin, a list you can't put down. Other weeks nothing is wrong and nothing moves, and switching between the two is its own kind of tired.
Working together from Queens
How this actually works
Melanie does not have an office in Queens, and weekly therapy wouldn't happen in one anyway — it is telehealth, always. For a lot of people that is the difference between an appointment they keep and one they cancel, because the hour stops costing a round trip on top of itself. You do need to be physically located in New York State when we meet, which Queens satisfies. The practice sees adults only.
I don’t have an office there. Weekly therapy is telehealth, and you need to be physically located in New York State at the time of each session.
Why people get in touch
What brings people here
Underneath the thinking brain
Anxiety and depression are usually approached at the level of thought first — reframing, checking the evidence, talking yourself down. That helps some people and stops helping others. The work here goes at the emotional and unconscious level, through the body and the attachment system, which is a different route into the same problem. Therapy outcomes are not guaranteed.
No medication here
Melanie is an LCSW, not a physician or a psychologist, and she does not prescribe medication. If you already take something, or are considering it, that stays between you and your prescriber.
Adults, fifty minutes, weekly
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly, at $235, with a free 15 to 20 minute consultation before anything begins. The practice is out-of-network with every insurance plan and issues a monthly superbill you submit yourself. There is no sliding scale, and out-of-network reimbursement is never guaranteed.
FAQ
Questions from Queens
Is there an office in Queens?
No, there is no office in Queens. Weekly therapy takes place via telehealth. I am licensed in New York and can only offer psychotherapy services to people who reside in New York State. You also need to be physically located in the state at the time of each session.
Can you prescribe something for the anxiety?
No. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I don't prescribe medication, and I'm not a physician or a psychologist. If you take something already, or are considering it, that stays between you and your prescriber.
How bad does it have to be before I get in touch?
There's no threshold to clear. Start with a free consultation. It's a conversation, not a commitment, and part of my job is to say so if someone else would serve you better.
I've done talk therapy already. Is this the same thing? Is it CBT?
No. I'm trained in somatic and experiential psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Inner Relationship Focusing, psychodynamic and relational work, and mindfulness-based approaches. If purely cognitive work is what you want, I'm probably not the right fit. Many of my clients arrive having already done good therapy and hit a plateau.
What if I'm not safe?
If you are in danger right now, call or text 988 or dial 911. This site isn't a crisis service and email is not monitored for emergencies. A weekly outpatient hour isn't built for an emergency, and I'd rather you have the right number than the polite one.
