Therapy in Buffalo
A breakup takes more than the relationship with it. The routine goes, the plans go, and so does the version of you that only existed in there.
Working together from Buffalo
How this actually works
There is no Buffalo office — Melanie's weekly therapy is telehealth across New York State. What that changes is the practical side: no travel attached to the appointment, and the session fits into the day rather than around a drive. Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly, and you need to be physically in New York State when each one starts. Everything else happens from wherever you are.
I don’t have an office there. Weekly therapy is telehealth, and you need to be physically located in New York State at the time of each session.
Why people get in touch
What brings people here
After the ending
Most of the people who come to Melanie arrive after a breakup or a relationship rupture that has made them feel like they are starting over. That is the middle of her work rather than the edge of it. Breakup and divorce recovery is one of her seven core specialties.
What the ending exposed
Endings tend to surface attachment patterns that were there long before. Melanie works with attachment and relationships directly, drawing on somatic and experiential psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, and Inner Relationship Focusing. It goes at the emotional and unconscious level rather than adding another round of analysis. Progress is usually gradual and uneven, and therapy outcomes are not guaranteed.
One-to-one, not couples work
All therapy here is individual, and Melanie does not see couples. If you are hoping for joint sessions to work on a marriage, this is not that. If you are the one sorting out what happened and what you want next, these sessions are built for exactly that.
FAQ
Questions from Buffalo
Is there an office in Buffalo?
No. Melanie's only office is in Manhattan, and weekly therapy does not happen there in any case. Weekly therapy is telehealth, and you need to be physically located in New York State at the time of each session. The one in-person format is ketamine-assisted therapy, offered only alongside ongoing psychotherapy with her, with screening, prescribing and medical oversight handled by a separate independent licensed medical provider, never by her. Whether that could ever apply to you is a consultation conversation rather than something to assume.
What if I move out of state?
Weekly therapy takes place via telehealth. I am licensed in New York and can only offer psychotherapy services to people who reside in New York State. If you move out of New York, the work cannot continue, so it is worth raising early rather than late.
Can my ex, or a new partner, join a session?
No. Melanie does not see couples, and every session is individual. What the two of you did to each other still gets talked about; it just gets talked about with you.
How soon can we start, and what will it cost?
Step one is a short consultation that costs nothing, 15 to 20 minutes on video or the phone, and taking it commits you to nothing. Sessions after that run $235 for 50 minutes and are booked through Carepatron. No plan covers her in network; a monthly superbill is available for a reimbursement claim that may or may not come through, and no sliding scale is offered.
What if I'm not safe right now?
If you are in danger right now, call or text 988 or dial 911. This site isn't a crisis service and email is not monitored for emergencies.
